The Mohave College women’s soccer team wrapped up a competitive week of conference play, finishing with a draw at home and a road loss against Eastern Arizona College.
The first match of the week saw the Bighorns battle Yavapai College to a 0–0 draw at Firebird Field. Both teams created chances throughout the match, but strong goalkeeping and defense kept the game scoreless. Evelyn Montiel-Silva led Mohave in goal with eight saves, earning another shutout for the season. Estephanie Montiel-Silva and Magaly Guzman-Lopez helped pace the offense, combining for several shots on target.
Later in the week, Mohave traveled to face Eastern Arizona College, falling 2–0 in a match that stayed close throughout. Montiel-Silva made 12 saves to keep the Bighorns in the game, but Eastern Arizona managed one goal in each half to take the win.
Last week, #13 Magaly Guzman-Lopez was recognized as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Division I Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Week Six, earning the honor for her strong offensive play and consistent effort throughout conference competition.
The Bighorns now turn their attention to the final two games of the regular season. Mohave will host Arizona Western College Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. at Firebird Field. The team will then close out the year on the road with a rescheduled match against Arizona Western College Friday, Oct. 24, also set for 4:30 p.m.
