Bighorns men’s soccer extends win streak with home victory
The Mohave College Men’s Soccer team capped off the week with another impressive performance, defeating the College of Southern Nevada 6-1 at home.
The Mohave College Men’s Soccer team capped off the week with another impressive performance, defeating the College of Southern Nevada 6-1 at home.
The offense was in top form as Alan Salgado scored twice in the first half, assisted by Raul Sierra and Lazzar Ramos. Brayan Lino also netted two goals, set up by Misael Meza and Dominic Portale. Ramos added a goal of his own before Mauricio Velazquez sealed the win in the second half off a pass from Anthony Carrillo.
“I’m very proud of the group for earning the 10th win in a row. We have 27 guys that are locked in and committed to each other and the program,” said Camilo Valencia, Men’s Head Coach. “We have two more conference home games and we hope that our fans can help us close the regular season with their enthusiasm and energy.”
The victory pushed Mohave College’s winning streak to 10 games, keeping the team ranked No. 17 nationally in the NJCAA Division I standings. Their scheduled Sept. 27 match at Arizona Western College was postponed due to weather and will now be played Oct. 24.
Looking ahead, the Bighorns will travel to face Phoenix College at 7 p.m., Oct. 7. before returning home for a key conference matchup against Yavapai College at 7 p.m. Oct. 11.
