The Mohave College men’s soccer team lost 4–2 on the road Tuesday night against Phoenix College.
Phoenix took a 1–0 lead late in the first half and added three more goals early in the second. Mohave answered with two goals from Alan Salgado in the 79th and 81st minutes. Lazzar Ramos and Nolan Garcia each recorded assists on the plays. Goalkeeper Chase Radford finished the match with two saves.
Despite the loss, the Bighorns moved up two spots in the NJCAA Division I national rankings, climbing from No. 17 to No. 15 in the Week 6 poll released Oct. 6
“We head into the weekend after dropping our first match this season but we don’t see it as a negative thing. It’s good to be battled tested and to be in uncomfortable positions before playing in win or go home matches,” said Camilo Valencia, Men’s Head Coach. “We’re excited to try to bounce back at home against Yavapai and then close the weekend on a positive note with a tough roadtrip to Thatcher.”
The Bighorns will return home to Firebird Field on Saturday, October 11, to take on Yavapai College. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Following that match, Mohave will head on the road to face Eastern Arizona College on Tuesday, October 14.
