Mohave College men’s soccer records two straight wins
The Mohave College Men’s Soccer team capped off a strong week of competition with two home victories, extending their winning streak and climbing in the national rankings. The Bighorns now sit at #17 in the NJCAA Division I rankings and #20 in the Coaches Poll, moving up two spots after a dominant stretch of play that showcased their offensive depth and teamwork.

The Bighorns now sit at #17 in the NJCAA Division I rankings and #20 in the Coaches Poll, moving up two spots after a dominant stretch of play that showcased their offensive depth and teamwork.
The week began Saturday,Sept. 20 with a 4-2 win over Eastern Arizona College. Mohave jumped out to a 3-2 halftime lead behind goals from Mauricio Velazquez, Alan Salgado and Lazzar Ramos. Velazquez opened the scoring with assists from Salgado and Lazzar Ramos, while Salgado followed with a strike assisted by Velazquez and Brayan Lino. Ramos added the third goal before halftime, and Salgado sealed the match in the 63rd minute, finishing a setup from Raul Sierra and Ramos for the 4-2 final.
Mohave continued its momentum with a 7-4 victory over Nelson University in a high-scoring showcase of offensive firepower. Lazzar Ramos led the attack with two goals, while Alan Salgado delivered a goal and two assists. Nolan Garcia, Brayan Lino, Erik Nava and Mauricio Velazquez each added goals of their own, with additional assists coming from Salgado, Garcia and Nava.
The Bighorns now prepare for a challenging stretch as they look to maintain their winning form. Mohave travels to face NJCAA #8 Arizona Western College Saturday, Sept. 27 at 7p.m. before returning home to host the College of Southern Nevada Tuesday,Sept. 30 at 7p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they continue their push up the conference standings.
“We begin the toughest part of the season this week,this is when every game is a big game,” said Camilo Valencia, Head Men’s Coach. “The team has started the season well and looks to continue improving in every game.”
