Mohave College women’s soccer showed resilience on the road Tuesday morning, battling until the final whistle in a 2-1 match at Cochise College.
In the second half, the Bighorns scored in the 85th minute. Midfielder Brianne Kumashiro put the ball in the net with help from teammates Magaly Guzman-Lopez and Estephanie Montiel-Silva. The goal gave Mohave late momentum as they tried to tie the game.
Despite generating opportunities in the closing minutes, the Bighorns were unable to level the score before time expired.
With the result, Mohave moves to 3-2-1 overall. The Bighorns now turn their attention to their next match on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they host Long Beach Community College at Firebird Field. Kickoff for the women’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 8 p.m.
