MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer beat the College of Southern Nevada for the second time this season and by an even greater margin than in September, topping the Coyotes 4-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia says the Bighorns dominated from the start of the game, knocking back two early goals within the first 10 minutes of the contest.
Those goals came courtesy of Jorge Quintero off an assist from Brayan Lino, and Dominic Portale off an assist from Christopher Arvizu. Quintero then scored his second goal of the night off an assist from Hunter La Pointe in minute 42, with Brayan Lino rounding out the scoring for the Bighorns with an unassisted goal in minute 78.
“It was a very good performance, a very complete performance, and we had a lot of players who had the opportunity to play,” says Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia. “It was a fun environment because we had a lot of family and friends out there with CSN being so close, and because we have a lot of players from that area.”
This was the second matchup between the Bighorns and the Coyotes this season, with that first game ending in a 2-1 victory for Mohave Community College. Valencia says his squad was more effective in goal this second time around, adding that the team’s resiliency was on display in winning the game on the road after dropping the last three games.
The Bighorns now have a week before their next matchup against Community Christian College on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
“For us right now, it’s perfect timing because we’ve been playing back-to-back games for two or three weeks,” he says. “This gives us a chance to get healthy and fit, but also gives the guys the chance to take care of homework and classes, which are also very important.”
